Marisol Lydia Torres is a playwright, poet, songwriter, and MFA graduate in Dramatic Writing (Television, Film, & Theatre). Marisol has written and performed solo and collaborative performance work presented across the United States and in Mexico since 1997.

Torres’ short story for young audiences: “Magical Frijol Petate Ride” was commissioned by CTG’s community stories series in 2020. In 2019, Center Theatre Group commissioned Marisol to write her newest full-length play “L.A. as DNA.” The play was performed in public readings in May 2019 at Boyle Heights Libraries and directed by Nathan Singh.

From 2018-2019, Marisol was a selected playwright for the Latinx Theatre Alliance/Los Angeles (LTA/LA) Writer’s Circle.
Center Theatre Group invited Torres to write six original comedy sketches as part of their “Chisme y Queso” live performance series in 2017.
In 2017, The Artists Theatre Lab of Lafayetteville, Arkansas commissioned Marisol to write “Sammi Saves the World,” a contemporary comedic adaptation of the traditional ‘Las Pastorelas’ plays.
Torres’ play “9 Layers” was selected and produced at the 2012 John Lion New Plays Festival at California State University, Los Angeles. It will be published in a 2013 Anthology featuring selected plays from the festival.
